10 “Mean Girls” Life Lessons

If you grew up in the 2000’s, Mean Girls was likely a staple in your childhood. Honestly, I think the self-awareness learned from the movie made a lot of people in my high school nicer in our teenage years.

Here are 10 of the major takeaways the classic movie gave us:

1. Be nice to your peers!

In the end, Cady learns that all this gossip, and ill will towards other girls (and guys) is petty and not right.

2. Don’t blame others for your problems

Calling someone fat isn’t going to make you less skinny. Proven fact

3. Apologize

If you’re rude, own up to it! And don’t make fun of your friend’s digestion problems at the local bookstore

4. Butter is a carb

So don’t go crazy when you’re buttering up your bread at Cheesecake Factory

5. It’s okay to be a nerd!

True, we will never be as cool as Kevin G, but if you’re smart, it’s okay to do “dorky” things like Mathletes. You might meet some pretty chill people doing so

6. Stand up to bullies

You don’t need to go as far as stabbing Caesar, but don’t be afraid to speak your mind

7. Taco Bell is somewhere fun to go

Even more true now, with the Chicken Chalupa on the menu!

8. Let your friends wear what they want

Otherwise they might wish vengeance on you for not letting them wear their new hoop earrings

9. Eat those cheese fries!

Forget diets! Those foods such anyway. Eat what you want!

10. You can always be beautiful!

Regina rocked that neck brace like a queen, and Cady showed up at the prom in a letterman jacket and still won her crown!
